Case Study 4 - Speech Data Project Rescue
The client, a major player in the UK speech technology market, aimed to establish itself as a global player through the extension of it's core technologies in to other European, American, Asian and Australasian markets. In order to do so, a large corpus of speech data was required from each target country. The project to collect this data had been running - and failing to deliver - for some time when it was handed over to a Tangent Telecom project manager.

Examining the project in detail revealed a significant shortfall in the agreed requirements, budgets, business case and project resourcing and so two new proposals were submitted for approval to the client's board of directors - one detailing the full requirements and their cost, the second detailing a reduced set of requirements and associated lower budgetary and resource requirements, and a substantially better business case.

Having gained approval for the lower estimate, the project manager brought together a team to deliver the newly formalised requirements, underpinning the delivery of product in to a number of major markets, world-wide.
